What people fail to understand with Veronica’s home situation is that she’s a child raised by Hiram and Hermione. 

Her “wanting to be part of the family business” is just her wanting to become a full fledge Lodge, because that’s something her parents have installed in her. 

“You are a Lodge, after all.” 

You can’t expect someone who has been raised in this environment to just “turn good” at a drop of a hat because boo hoo Betty is angry at me. That’s not how that works; that’s not how abuse and manipulation works. That’s not how the family function works. 

Veronica is a product of her parents, just like Betty is a product of her own parents, just like Jughead is too. She’s been raised to be this way. 

And to fight against that is extremely difficult. To be confronted with reality is difficult. It’s so fucking difficult. And I think people aren’t giving her enough credit and/or enough benefit of the doubt. 

All these kids just want their families to be happy and to be  together. Betty bringing Chic was to make Alice happy; Jughead wants nothing more than to reunite his family. Archie is fiercely protective of Fred. It’s unfortunate that Veronica’s parents are literally the devil incarnate, because she still wants to have her family together; she doesn’t want to lose that – which isn’t any different from what the other kids want. 

So saying that she “chose” to be part of her family business as a reason to hate on her and/or call her awful, call her a bitch, is literal bs, sorry not sorry. As if Hiram would have stopped just because Veronica doesn’t want a part in it. Also, if you think Hiram and Hermione wouldn’t have punished Veronica if she had defied them, y’all are fools.
